OOH Companies Begin Receiving Stimulus Funds

Good news: out of home media companies have started receiving stimulus help. “Direct deposit into the bank account,” said one company on April 14, after getting funds from the Paycheck Protection Program sponsored by the Small Business Administration. The Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA) has joined a broad push to extend the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to help small businesses affected by the coronavirus crisis.

OAAA has partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the nation’s health agency, to offer public-health PSAs in a variety of digital OOH formats as the OOH industry steps up to help explain preventive measures to mass audiences. Thousands of digital OOH units across the country are asking Americans to be diligent in washing their hands, staying home when ill, and to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth.

Together with the CDC, the OOH industry is delivering unified messaging and supporting public-information goals set by health professionals. OAAA will continue to take direction from the CDC in the event messaging should change.

The Ad Council partnered with CDC and The White House to launch #AloneTogether, which is centered around the vital message that if you can stay at home and limit your contact with others, you can help prevent the spread of coronavirus. #AloneTogether unites the isolated to form and inform a community that’s stronger together.
