Nominations

The Trump Administration continues to nominate new leadership at the U.S. Dept. of Transportation. Following the recent confirmation of Secretary Sean Duffy, several others are now pending or in process through the U.S. Senate.

DOT Deputy Secretary

Steven Bradbury was nominated to be the Deputy Secretary at U.S. DOT. Bradbury is a former U.S. DOT General Counsel and attorney at the U.S. Dept. of Justice. The Senate Commerce Committee held a confirmation hearing in February and later voted (15-13) to forward his nomination to the full Senate for consideration and approval.

NHSTA

Jonathan Morrison was nominated to be the next Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Morrison is a former Chief Counsel at the agency and was more recently an executive at Apple. His nomination will go through the Senate Commerce Committee.

FTA

Former Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY) was nominated to be the next Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Molinaro represented a Hudson Valley based congressional district but lost his re-election in November. During his time in Congress, Molinaro served on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, our industry’s main policy jurisdiction. His nomination will go through the Senate Banking Committee.

State Associations

Andy McDonald participated in the annual meetings of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Tennessee and the North Carolina Outdoor Advertising Association. Andy discussed federal and state regulatory issues with attendees, and as always, explored areas where we can work together on behalf of the industry. The NC meeting, held in Asheville, had been originally scheduled for last fall but had to be postponed due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene on the Asheville region.
