Airports
U.S. DOT continues to release Airport Improvement Grants, part of a $1.1B federal funding initiative. The latest awards include $30.7M to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport for runway construction; $18.9M for terminal expansion at Shreveport Regional Airport in Louisiana; and $11.5M for a new tower at Mankato Regional Airport in Minnesota.
Transit
The Federal Transit Administration announced $240M in transit system modernization grants in eight states. Among the major awards are $80M to SEPTA in southeastern Pennsylvania; $48M to MARC and the Maryland Department of Transportation; and $20M to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority.
Ad Platforms
The Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against Amazon for alleged deceptive advertising platform practices. The agency, joined by 22 states, alleges that Amazon overcharged 1.2M advertising customers by secretly increasing competitive auction prices and inventing auction participants. Through these pricing schemes, the lawsuit asserts that Amazon took in over $20B since 2018.
Campaign Ads
A Democratic campaign committee is targeting several incumbent House Republicans with mobile billboard advertisements, drawing attention to their votes that limit federal food assistance. The mobile ads will appear in congressional districts, including Tucson, AZ; Denver, CO; Hudson Valley, NY; Lehigh Valley, PA; and San Antonio, TX.
Elections
With primary season ended, and November general election ballots set, there are a record 27 female candidates in races for Governor across the country. In Minnesota, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Tennessee, both parties have nominated women – an all female slate.
