Football season is back, and with it comes BBQs, burgers, and beer.
Beer is by far the football fan’s adult beverage of choice. A 2016 Harris Poll found 75 percent of adult Americans prefer to drink beer while watching football.
The top two breweries in the US — Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors — compete for beer drinkers each year, and during football season advertising targets the loyal fan.
Two of the breweries’ top brands — Budweiser and MillerCoors, both in the OBIE Hall of Fame — customize billboards with football team logos, slogans, and other local fanfare. The ads are geographically targeted, guaranteed to reach the appropriate fan and unite community moral.
