Privacy

California enacted several new data and online privacy requirements involving personal data collection and social media platforms. The new laws streamline the consumer opt-out regarding collection and sale of personal data; enable easier one-time deletion of personal information applicable across all platforms; increase disclosure of what personal information is collected by data brokers; and requires a new mental health warning label for all social media users under the age of 18.

Advocacy & OOH

A Washington, DC based business trade association is running a $1M advocacy campaign to facilitate more timely approval of major federal infrastructure projects. The campaign encourages agency permitting reform and includes an OOH component at gas stations throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia metro area.

Tariffs

The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments on a case that examines the use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act as a foundation for the President’s tariff actions. The Court’s ultimate ruling will further define presidential vs. congressional authority and will have broad domestic and international economic impact.

A.I.

Two U.S. Senators introduced a bipartisan bill on workplace impacts of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). The legislation requires major companies and federal agencies to submit information to the U.S. Dept. of Labor (DOL). The quarterly reports would detail A.I. related layoffs and job displacement, with the DOL data capture then submitted to Congress for policy considerations.
