Legal – Tax
OAAA and industry stakeholders submitted an amicus curiae brief in a City of Philadelphia tax case, an appeal of an earlier determination that all revenue derived from an advertising asset should apply to the property tax assessment of a land holder. The brief was filed by OUTFRONT Media, OAAA, the Outdoor Advertising Association of Pennsylvania, and the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

The Outdoor Advertising Association of Wisconsin appeared before their state legislature in support of bills to enhance just compensation and eminent domain protections for billboard assets. The OAAW executive director and general counsel for Link Media Outdoor testified in support of the legislation.
States – NC
The North Carolina Outdoor Advertising Association launched a campaign titled “Billboards Work for North Carolina”, promoting our industry’s positive community and economic impact. The initiative highlights the role billboards play in public safety, small business growth, workplace hiring, non-profit advocacy, and tourism.
Air Travel
U.S. Dept. of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy unveiled a public relations campaign titled “The Golden Age of Travel Starts with You”, to address the continued increase in travel incidents and their impact on airline staff and personnel. In 2024, there were double the number of in-flight outbursts, ranging from disruptive behavior to violence. DOT seeks to reverse that trend and to restore civility to air travel.
TSA
Sunday of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend set a record for air travel, with over 3.13M travelers screened by the Transportation Security Administration. It is the highest single-day figure in the history of TSA and breaks the previous record of 3.09M set on June 22. TSA’s top ten passenger screening days have all occurred in the last two years.
