OAAA @ IBO
Anna Bager and Mike Hershey attended the spring conference of the Independent Billboard Operators (IBO) in Salt Lake City, UT. OAAA is a regular speaker at the conferences. We appreciate our partnership with the IBO and their inclusion of us in their program.
OAAA @ AASHTO
Andy McDonald represented OAAA at the American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO) conference in Ft. Worth, TX. Andy gave a presentation to state Department of Transportation representatives on our industry’s strong ties to local communities and our extensive public service partnerships with state and federal agencies.
NHTSA Campaign
April was Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) launched a “Put the Phone Away or Pay” campaign, aimed at awareness and enforcement of phone use while driving. NHTSA is a great industry partner consistently using OOH in their public messaging campaigns.
U.S. DOT – Road Trip
Secretary Sean Duffy and the U.S. Dept. of Transportation (DOT) kicked off a summer travel initiative – the Great American Road Trip. Duffy launched the automotive tourism campaign at the DOT headquarters in Washington, DC. The Road Trip is part of the Administration’s planned events celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
Federal Workplace Rules
The U.S. Dept. of Labor (DOL) announced it will not continue to appeal a federal court decision involving the agency’s 2024 “overtime” rules. Last year, DOL increased employee income thresholds involving payment of overtime wages. The DOL action was challenged in a Texas federal district court, which paused implementation. Absent any further court action, income thresholds under a 2019 DOL rule will remain in effect ($35,568 and $107,432).
OAAA & Earth Day
Thank you to those that participated in our annual public service advertising campaign with the Earth Day Organization (EDO). This year’s EDO theme of “Our Power, Our Planet” spotlighted renewable energy sources. Earth Day is annually celebrated on April 22.
