Government Affairs Updates | March 2026

Congress

Rep. Sam Graves (MO), Chairman of the House Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) Committee, is retiring from Congress at the end of this year. Graves has had a significant impact on federal transportation policy and has been a longtime champion of outdoor advertising, stretching back to his time in the Missouri state legislature.

Wisconsin

Gov. Tony Evers vetoed industry legislation, which would have modernized valuation for condemnation and relocation of outdoor advertising structures. In his veto message, the Governor cited potential state related costs. The Outdoor Advertising Association of Wisconsin worked tirelessly to secure support through the state legislature and will continue to explore next steps and future advocacy.

Billboard Advocacy

A non-profit advocacy group ran a nationwide billboard campaign around NCAA basketball tournament sites to combat sex tourism and sex trafficking. The organization’s campaign was seen in 11 major cities, including the Final Four in Indianapolis. A similar campaign in 2025 led to the recovery of 8 victims on Final Four weekend in San Antonio.

Bridge Projects

The Federal Highway Administration announced $407M in funding to 119 bridges in rural communities across 12 states. The larger awards include Iowa bridges integral to agricultural transportation; I-95 bridge crossings in Maine; Missouri River crossings in South Dakota; and the Kanawha I-64 turnpike overpass in West Virginia.
