Industry leader, OAAA Board member, and celebrated New Yorker, Rick Del Mastro, passed away earlier this month after an intense fight with COVID-19.
“Rick loved this industry, our trade association, and his colleagues,” said Anna Bager. “He was among the first to welcome me to the industry in his trademark style of a fine Italian lunch followed by a tour to see his boards.”
Rick was a pioneer in transit advertising, Times Square displays, and street-level formats. His company City Outdoor has offices in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Starting his out of home career at Gannett in 1989, Rick developed several OOH companies. When the industry applauded his entry into the OAAA Hall of Fame in 2019, Rick’s peers and family recalled him as:
- A mentor to salespeople, media directors, and CEOs
- Generous with his time, talents, and resources
- Involved in his community, including longtime leadership of Life’s WORC (serving developmentally challenged populations)
Together we mourn the loss of our friend Rick Del Mastro, a visionary leader and dedicated supporter of our industry.
