OOH market maintains positive growth, reports OAAA

According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) the OOH industry in the US has seen advertising revenue rise by 4.7 percent in the first quarter of 2015, marking the 20th consecutive quarter of growth for the sector.

The OAAA found that growth in categories including, retail, media and advertising, public transportation, politics and organisations and communications, accounted for $1.59 billion revenue for the quarter. In addition to this, several OOH advertisers among the top 30 spenders surpassed the 4.7 percent growth average, including Microsoft, Google, Verizon and American Express.

"The industry displayed broad strength with increases in the billboard, transit, and street furniture segments, which also reflects the growing importance of the digital platform and OOH’s ability to connect with mobile consumers," explains Stephen Freitas, OAAA chief marketing officer.

"The first few months of the year reflected strong growth across all OOH formats and an increase in nine of the top ten product categories," reveals OAAA president and chief executive Nancy Fletcher. "OOH also significantly outperformed GDP, beating it by over four percentage points."
