Corona Extra Inducted into OBIE Hall of Fame for Long History of Outstanding Out of Home Advertising

February 15, 2016 (Washington, DC) – The Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) willpresent the 2016 OBIE Hall of Fame Award to Corona Extra. Estab­lished in 1992, the OBIE Hall of Fame was created to recognize brands that have built an enduring legacy through the consistent use of the out of home (OOH) advertising medium over many years.

“Corona has created a body of work that everyone in the country, and probably the world, recognizes,” said Jim Copacino, Copacino + Fujikado, and OBIE judge.

OBIE judge Howard Greiner, Buntin OOH Media, added, “ With simple images and copy, Corona delivers a message that consumer understand and connect with.”

Since Corona Extra was introduced in the United States in 1981, the brand has captured consumers with the use of minimal yet powerful OOH ads that transport beer drinkers to their own oasis, helping it to become the fastest growing imported beer in US history. For each of the beer’s variety of products, Corona has used multiple OOH formats over the decades to encourage and celebrate the necessary escapes from daily realities.

Corona Extra will be presented with its award alongside this year’s OBIE winners at the 74th OBIE Awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 19 during the 2016 TAN/OAAA Out of Home Media Conference & Expo in Boca Raton, FL.
