BBDO New York Wins Best of Show at OBIE Awards

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- BBDO came out on top at last night's 65th annual OBIE Awards at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, awarded by the Outdoor Advertising Association of America.
 
Best of Show outdoor honors went to BBDO for BBC World.
 
Snagging nine out of the 15 honors, the agency's New York office walked away with the coveted Best of Show for "BBC World Voting Campaign." The interactive digital billboards, introducing BBC World to the U.S. market, featured politically charged images and messages based on current events. On both sides of each ad, displays constantly updated poll numbers showing the opinions of passers-by using Bluetooth technology to vote on hot button issues.

"This year's Best of Show combined relevancy, creativity and technology," Nancy Fletcher, OAAA president-CEO, said in a statement. "This campaign incorporated qualities that strongly position the outdoor industry as a medium in the forefront of innovation."

Walt Disney Co. was inducted in the group's Hall of Fame for a "Fantasia"-inspired billboard. Dieste, Harmel & Partners, Martin Agency and Leo Burnett USA were among the other winners of the night.

Thirty-nine Merit and 41 Finalists certificates were also presented.
