Date: January 10, 2017

Summary:
'New year, new resolutions' is the campaign's slogan, as the advert goes on to portray various treatments to help you quit smoking.

Body:
A Swedish pharmacy has released a provocative anti-smoking campaign.

An animated advertising screen, featuring a young man's head and shoulders, shows him coughing whenever smokers pass by thanks to embedded smoke detectors.

The screen was set up in a Stockholm plaza where people regularly congregate to smoke.

In the pharmacy's advert for the billboard, the young man tells viewers: 'We're the Swedish Pharmacy Hjärtat. Our mission is to help you live a longer and healthier life.

'That's why I'm here, to help you get new, healthier habits just in time for the new year.'

'New year, new resolutions' is the campaign's slogan, as the advert goes on to portray various treatments to help you quit smoking.

Whenever a smoker passes by the screen detects the fumes from their cigarette and the man starts to cough heavily, visibly distressed by the smoke.

The campaign's video shows smoking passersby stopping in shock as the black-and-white man on the screen breaks into cough.

One man even raises his cigarette up to his lips and drops it again as he stares intrigued at the animated screen.

A woman in pink coat can be seen visibly jumping in surprise while another pair can be seen laughing at the ingenuity of the advertisement.

The video has already been viewed over 374, 000 times on the pharmacy's Facebook page.

Viewers have shared their opinions in Swedish on the advert.

'I I think advertising is fantastic!!' one person wrote, 'If you just can motivate a person to stop this disgusting habit, it's worth it!'

'Genius and innovation as always!' another commented.

But others are more skeptical: 'I thought 2016 was the major smoking-shaming-year, with pictures on the packages of rotting feet and slashed lungs. But now stepped it up.'

'The only thing that will do is to set up elsewhere,' one defiant viewer said, 'Believe it or not but we are actually aware of the risks when we smoke.'
