Sometimes a résumé just isn't enough.

After Kenneth W. Mihill Jr. submitted a résumé for an account executive position at Maritz Motivation Solutions last month, he followed up the submission with a billboard across the street from the Fenton company that designs and operates incentive programs.

In huge letters, the billboard shows Mihill's name and the Linkedin website where his experience and other credentials are listed, along with the message: "Maritz Motivation. I want to play on your team."
According to Mihill's online profile — he wasn't immediately available to comment — he's an experienced sales executive whose employment includes work in outdoor advertising.

The billboard message caught the attention of Maritz Motivations' human resources department and other employees.

"Everybody is buzzing about it today," Kathy Randall, the company's director of brand communications, said Wednesday. "Jobs are tough to come by, and this certainly is a unique way to get our attention."

Randall said the hiring director for the open position is reviewing Mihill's experience to determine if it matches the qualifications for the job.

"We would like to interview him," Randall said.
