Pass It On Launches 11th Series in Popular Public Service Campaign

(Washington, DC) –The Foundation for a Better life, in partnership with the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) and its members, today revealed Phase 11 in its successful Pass It On out of home public service advertising campaign. The popular national public service campaign partners respected celebrities, historic figures, and hometown heroes to promote positive emotional and lifestyle values, motivating others to “pass them on.”
This year’s line-up of leaders appearing on billboards, bus shelters, and other out of home (OOH) formats across the US includes Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, Mozart, and other heroes of our time.

“For 11 years, with the help of the OOH advertising industry, the Pass It On campaign has inspired Americans with motivational messages and lessons in values and lifestyle,” said OAAA President & CEO Nancy Fletcher. “Having been featured on more than 88,000 OOH displays across the country, it is one of the most recognized public service efforts in the industry’s history.”

The Pass It On messages demonstrate how people can defy circumstances and change lives for the better. Additional new subjects in the campaign include automobile poineer Henry Ford, literacy icon Alferd Williams, and Linda Fondren, who inspired neighbors in her Mississippi town to collectively lose 15,000 pounds.

“Through encouragement, commitment to betterment, steadfast leadership, and even a passion for great music, these heroes have left a lasting impression on people everywhere,” said Gary Dixon, president of The Foundation for a Better Life. “The OOH advertising industry has been a tremendous partner in helping to spread these vital messages and inspiring the world to pass them along.”

In the last 11 years, US OOH advertising companies have donated more than $240 million in advertising space to the Pass It On campaign.
